Community Spotlight: Tim

Local resident, business owner, and Sci-Arc alumni Tim is a common sight in the neighborhood. On a beautiful spring afternoon, he was spotted driving his 1941 Mercury Station Wagon to the post office. When he’s not riding his bike back from the YMCA in the early morning, or driving an old vintage car down Hewitt Street, one might catch him embarking on his daily tradition of strolling across the Sixth Street Viaduct with his dogs.

Tim and his wife Bridget first moved to the Arts District 23 years ago, transforming an abandoned building into a home and a workspace for Bridget’s jewelry business.

“The neighborhood was different back then,” Tim recalls. “More homeless encampments and more artists.”

Around a decade later, presented with an opportunity of a friend’s liquor license, Tim and Bridget decided to open the Resident — a place for neighborhood locals to gather and unwind.

“The Arts District is a fascinating place. People live and work here with a sense of community. I’d love to see more development, whether that be buildings or streets.”
